   I have a wife that needs to chew ice. This ice has to be of a specific consistency and size to be acceptable and unfortunately the crushed ice from the refrigerator does not fill the bill due it being just shattered cubes… who knew. So one of my daily errands has been ice retrieval from one of the convenience stores or restaurants that has the correct crunchy ice. My frustration in this comes in the melting department (also in the frequency of trips to Sonic et al). In an attempt to be more efficient I decided it would be worth a try to get this ice machine after researching all of the similar products from various brands. I must say that this particular machine is definitely worth its weight in at least silver to me, maybe gold. The operation is quiet, it fills quickly, it is not required to use the fridge style water line if you don’t want to, and the ice produced has been deemed by my ice addict as “perfect”. I have begun to use this ice in my drinks as well rather than the crushed ice from the refrigerator … which I previously considered excellent.

   I’ll first start off negative it’s not the company’s fault. It was damaged on arrival. I don’t wanna go through with the return process so going to keep it. I’ll post pictures.I’ve been Wanting a nugget ice maker forever just didn’t like the pricing and bad reviews on slot of them but couldn’t pass up the price with the $100 off coupon they have right now and reviews! so pulled the trigger and bought it. Waited the 2 hours upright just to make sure. Amazon delivery can be hit or miss anymore. Makes ice slow then once it’s on for awhile it really starts making it. Has to get up to the operating temp first Completely understand. Would definitely recommend! If anything changes I’ll update the review!

   I have had several icemakers, and this is hands down the best icemaker I’ve ever had. It makes ice quickly, the ice is beautifully shaped and not overly wet. My husband and I use ice on a daily basis & we were spending so much money buying ice. Neither of us kept up with the ice trays & installing an ice maker in the fridge was not an option. We were sceptical with the ice machine at first. It makes alot of noise,but when we made batch after batch, we were sold. We absolutely love it! Sunday is “ice day” cause we make a giant container for the week. Best money ever spent for sure.

   I originally had an Opal nugget ice maker that only lasted for not quite 2 years. When I started my search for a new machine I did a lot of research and read all of the comments before I settled on the Gevi Nugget ice maker. I do not regret my decision at all! Besides being very easy to set up and understand the instructions, it makes ice faster than my Opal ever did, but probably the most important thing about this machine is the customer service department at Gevi. When I first got the machine I wrote a quick review about pretty much what I said here as well, but I also casually mentioned that when I unloaded the machine, there was some small damage in the lower rear corner that probably happened during shipping and probably won’t affect anything. Well, apparently the awesome people at Gevi read my comment and sent me a $21.80 refund for the slight damage done in shipping. That is one awesome company!! Its also a better machine than the Opal ever was! I highly recommend this nugget ice machine, and this is coming from someone who is addicted to chewable nugget ice!!

   The media could not be loaded.  Updated review:I must have received a defective item the first time.The new item works great and I have to give customer service 5 stars too!It’s super quiet, started making ice after about 10 minutes, full tray in a few hours.Love it!!!!I am surprised by all the great reviews or perhaps I received a defective item.I followed all of the instructions to set up (waited 2 hours, clean mode, 6” of space, etc) and this did not produce any significant ice.After about 6 hours I got 1/4 of a basket.It kept flipping to to “defrost mode” every 30-45 minutes melting what little ice it made (first pic is after about 6 hours).I left it on over night and it made extremely loud noises waking everyone up.The next day I unplugged it, drained it, let it sit for about 8 hours and then started over to give it another try and the same thing happened. (Video of the loud noise).

   We have had the ice maker for about a week. This past weekend we had a graduation party with gatherings both days. The machine produced plenty of ice which everyone loved. I connected it to the water line coming to our refrigerator from our reverse osmosis water system. The ice is clear and taste great as you would expect. Since we are using RO water I suspect we will not have to clean it as often as we would using tap water. Either way I highly recommend running a water line to the unit its super easy to do using a 1/4″ water line kit off Amazon with the press fit couplings. Cost is about $12 for the kit…If you like pellet (Sonic) in large quantity’s this is the machine for you.

   I’ve owned an Opal Nugget Ice maker for about 6 years and it started grinding and whining, making it unbearable to listen to. Decided it was time for a new one after a few attempts to fix the old one, but when I saw the price to replace it I was so glad there were now other options. While researching, I found the Gevi and bit the bullet, expecting a lower quality but acceptable replacement…I was so wrong. The Gevi actually has indicators to tell you when to clean it, fill it, when it’s making ice and when it needs attention. Opal just stops working and lights flash, meaning you need to Google the cause. It’s so quiet and the ice is must softer, so ice chewers can delight. It is slower to start making ice than the Opal, but once it gets going, it keeps the bucket full for you. As with the Opal, you don’t need to remove the ice when it’s made, as it slowly melts, the water returns to the base and gets recycled into ice again. If you buy it, read the directions, which are very easy to follow and very important to make sure you don’t damage your machine, such as “Use Room Temperature Water”; not cold water from your refrigerator. So glad I found this machine and I hope it lasts at least as long as my Opal. I may just have to gift one to my Sonic Ice junkie daughter.

    The media could not be loaded.  UPDATE: I’ve used this machine every single day for 3 months, I have not had any issues at all. The noise has not gotten louder and the ice is still as amazing as day one. It is extremely easy to clean (there is a clean button), and also very easy to drain. This has been the best purchase I’ve made in a really long time. Highly recommend.This machine is amazing and makes the perfect chewable ice!! I love ice in my drinks but I also love to chew ice as do my kids. The machine is quiet, kind of sounds like a microwave going or a small fan. It is a big machine, but fits nicely under our cabinets. I am very happy with this purchase. I did a lot of research on ice makers because I wanted a certain type of ice, and I’m happy with this. I’ve only had it two days, and will update if anything goes wrong, but so far, I’m loving it!!
