Tamron wows the world again with our ultra-telephoto all-in-one-zoom

In 1992, all-in-one zoom lenses were known for their heavy weight, bulky size and mediocre performance. Tamron revolutionized the industry by creating a lightweight, compact, high-performance “all-in-one zoom lens” that was perfect for everyday use. It launched to worldwide acclaim, cementing Tamron’s role as a pioneer in the “all-in-one zoom lens” category. Whereas the zoom magnification was 7.1x in 1992, it has increased to 22.2x for the Model B028 which is the world’s first* to achieve 400mm at the telephoto end. With its advanced optical system, compact lens barrel, high-precision cam configurations and VC, the B028 introduces the next level of Tamron innovation: the “ultra-telephoto all-in-one zoom lens.”

I like this lens! It is so sweet not having to change lenses in the field. I tried photos at different focal lengths and was please with the way they turned out. I read the reviews on the lense before purchase. The lense is a little tight to turn to the different lengths but I don’t consider that as a bad thing. It is a little on the heavy side so that will take some getting use to. The more I work with it the more I will get use to the weight. The photos I have attached are unedited and shot with a Canon Rebel T7I. Which I am still learning. So the photo errors are mine and not the lense fault.

LOVE this lens! As others have stated, it could be a little more crisp at full 400mm zoom, but for the price and what this lens can do, it’s fantastic. I am a hobbyist and a traveler so its perfect. Could I pass off my photos as pro and charge for them with this lens? Absolutely not. But for me, this lens is worth every penny. Auto focus is silent and works well, as does image stabilization. All pics in this post were shot with this lens (other than the pics of the lens itself, obviously). Came with lens hood, doesn’t stay on well at all, pretty useless.

I bought the lens on the premise that it would handle a wide variety of subjects. It delivers on that, if you don’t absolutely eed to use it at the farthest ends of the focal sweep. Buy yourself a monopod and learn how to use it. The AF is quite good overall, and I am impressed with the image stabilization overall. I took the lens to an airshow and got some fantastic shots. As a test, I hand held the camera (I have a Canon T6i) and grabbed a group of shots of various aircraft taking off the runway. At full res, and at max zoom, I saw a good amount of jitters… note that the aircraft were tooling along at 150+ mph. Attatched the monopod and the jitters were much reduced. Panning shots with the monood were easier as long as you are not in a crowd. Be mindfull of anyone around you and you should be okay. The zoom lock only works when it is fully retracted, and I was kinda hoping that it would lock anywhere in the travel. Not a deal breaker. One other thing I noticed right from the start is that the zoom’s rotation is very stiff out of the box. Thus I am being very gentle turning it untill it loosens up on it’s own. there is a tiny amount of play in the lens mount, I am thinking that it’s probably the camera body. Time will tell if it breaks. The manual focus has no such problem. It works very smoothly.

This is one fantastic lens!. Great optics, fast focus, sharp, excellent color, robust but light. I shoot indoor social events and lately outdoor sporting events. Over the years, I have gained a healthy distain for carrying a multitude of lenses just in case occasion calls for it. 18mm -400mm has replaced all of my optics gear. Wide angle at 18mm when in doors. Phenomenal Zoom magnification from one end of the soccer of filed to other. The lens is stable and adjusts quickly to moving targets. F/Stop range is better than most. I couldn’t be more pleased with this lens. Highly recommend for any level experience photographer.

    I received this lens today. I took some sample pictures using a Canon 80D. The sky was overcast. The pictures I have included were taken in raw and merely converted to jpeg with no adjusting whatsoever. I was using autofocus (one less variable to consider when evaluating).All were taken at 1/200 sec.Photo 1: f3,5 iso 100 18mmPhoto 2: f5 iso 250 50mmPhoto 3: f5.6 iso 500 100mmPhoto 4: f6.3 iso 640 300mmPhoto 5: f6.3 iso 800 400mmPhoto 7: f5 iso 100 70mPhoto 8: f6.3 iso 200 400mm
