The cat kept trying to drink out of our sinks (probably because I forget to fill his old bowl) so I got him this. It works well, I like the filter option. Been using it over a month. It’s not loud to me. It sounds exactly like my fish tank filter running. If you need quiter then stick with just a stagnant bowl as let’s be honest here, you need silence. I’ve cleaned it twice, the first time I left some soap in it accidently so don’t do that. The power cord is 68″ from the very back of the bowl where it comes out to the bottom of the power plug. I know, you think it’s weird I mention that but I didn’t think about where the water dish used to be. It wasn’t close enough to an outlet so the cat got relo’ed. Two things:1) When you clean it you’ll really need a toothbrush like device to get around the top dish groove that runs around the outside, as well as around the sides where the removable pump goes. Its not hard, I just mention it because I threw out a toothbrush a few days ago without thinking about needing to clean this. If you don’t clean in this groove, or lift the suction of the motor out to clean under that, you will have some soap residue and your cat will be right back in your sink. It’s pretty idiot proof for (re)assembly. The motor only fits one way. The top only fits one way. The little cover where the water comes up is easy to remove to clean in there and replace the cap one way. Except for one thing,2) Replacement filters. Guess who doesn’t pay attention if the old filter had the black or white side facing the motor? This guy. Do yourself a favor and sharpie on the back of the bowl as soon as you get it “black side of filter faces black motor”. There. Because this filter is used in multiple models the printed instructions direct you online for the direction to put the new filter in. With the marker you’ve saved yourself time and frustration googling which way the replacement filters go into the machine. You’re welcome future or past self, depending on which you identify with. All in all this is a solid purchase so far. I refill it once a week to avoid the water level dropping and burning out the motor. Depends on your pet(s) and climate of course. My cats not a spaz so I can fill the bottom bowl darn near the top. I can’t speak for yours. They might be a spaz. But that’s probably cool and you have lots of wacky pictures. I have a reminder in my phone every Wednesday to fill up the water. So there you have it. Cats happy and out of the sink. There’s enough water to last a Vegas weekend (or more). Replacement filters are cheap enough. A quick clean once (or more-ish) a month and you’re on to more productive and fun things in life. As a bonus the cat stays alive, and that’s why we’re really here, right?

The media could not be loaded. I like this fountain a lot. Especially more with our set up that I left pic and video of to give others ideas just like a couple other reviewers did that helped me- thank you! I put a plant in the center to cover the black plug and wire running up to the outlet that I already had on hand that added a nice touch, and together, seemed like we just had a fountain display in the house. So zen lol! The feeding mats are Target :) It’s not super huge or loud. As others said, if you have very laarge dogs or multiples, you will just need to add water more frequently but it does have a decent fill capacity. I bought for our dog that does not drink water much and I worry about her in the AZ heat, and honestly, don’t think it has helped much but my husband said he hears her drinking from it at night. Who knows? I may have to try something else.We have an incoming puppy arriving soon who I hope will take a liking to this. Will update with results. I bought because I like the idea of moving water and it does stay cleaner than a water dish for sure but I did notice a film despite our dogs lack of drinking so something I will definitely have to clean every week. The crevices does make it more difficult to clean at the top of the fountain but i will find a brush to clean in the hard to reach areas. Toothbrush may even work??I was tempted to buy one of the more expensive and esthetically pleasing models but not certain how my dogs would like it and with a few added touches, it was totally unnecessary. In fact, I like the idea that this will be harder to break than what I saw other reviewers said about the ceramic editions. For the price this was a good deal and way cheaper here on Amazon. Whoohoo!Update: Puppy loves and uses it. Not sure my other dog has increasingly used it though. :/It cleans easily with a normal scotch brite sponge you can fit in the top crevices pretty easily. I definitely clean once a week and break down pump and all. You really have to or it will get gross.Overall do like having this and do recommend.

We have four cats and live in HOT Florida, so keeping the them all hydrated is very important.I bought this pet drink-water-fountain because I read that cats instinctively prefer to drink moving water rather then sitting water, like from a bowl. This seems to be very true. The cats love this fountain. They drink from it often. I didn’t realize how rarely I saw them drinking from their water bowls until I saw how often they use this fountain. I feel a little bad and wish I’d bought them something like this sooner. The cats didn’t use it right away, but once they learned to trust it there was no issue, and like I said, I see them using often now.I don’t see chunks of cat food in the water like I did in the sitting water bowls, but that’s because its in the hidden filter. So don’t forget to check the filter. It’s easy to over look if you don’t think about it because it’s out of sight. This isn’t a magic fountain that cleans itself, but it’s not hard. The the pump and the running water aren’t loud, but they’re not silent either. I’d say it’s about as loud as a small fish aquarium water-pump. I get the impression the sound of the running water is part of the appeal to the cats. So a silent fountain probably wouldn’t be ideal anyway. As far as humans go, some people find the sound of moving water soothing, while others find it annoying. If you dislike the sound of flowing water and live a one room apartment, you may not like it as much as you cat(s) will. We have the fountain in the kitchen, so we have no issue either way.”My wife and I work hard so our cats can live a better life!”

A must for messy drinking dogs. I have four dogs two medium large and two small. My Hound Dog mix brings dirt and particles into the water every time she drinks and filthy’s the water very fast. By the end of the day there’s a coat of nasty dirt and I have to clean the container daily which was attached to a 3 gallon water jug. Now all four of my dogs drink from this and there is no nasty dirt soot at the end of the day. As a matter of fact there’s none for an entire week. The filter catches everything and at the end of the week when I clean it out the bottom isn’t even slimy. I just simply add water daily, as my dogs drink at least half of this each day, and I change the filter once a week instead of once every two weeks as recommended by instruction manual. Only because of the extra high use. You can see a picture of my Hound Dog mix breed drinking. They love it and I love it because all the dirt is being filtered out in the water is kept fresh through circulation.I highly recommend this product especially for larger dogs that may leave lots of soot in the bowl when they drink.

We’ve had this for a month now. We were going away for a week and our Daughter who works nights was going to house sit. I knew that with the heat the cats (4 including hers) would drink the bowl dry while she slept. at this point can say that it does indeed entice the cats to drink more. I add a half liter 2 x a day, more on hotter days. The cats (even the picky one) really seem to prefer the filtered water. They have abandoned all of their alternate water sources. They started using it within minutes of setup. One has recently taken to drinking from the top tier. The older cat has shown signs of improved digestion.

It’s a little “louder” than I imagined, but by no means loud. I personally like the sound of moving water so this actually might help me sleep better! Two birds, one stone.I have a bit of a wallflower kitty that can get intimidated by new things, but she warmed up quite quickly to it and drank from it only minutes after installation. My only tip is if you have a cat on the shy side, moving the food dish away from it initially until they get used to the sound it makes would probably help keep them on their feed. It’s new and the falling water is at their ear level; it’s understandable. It does buzz when low on water, but not obnoxiously so. I have it on a cheap Walmart food/water mat and that does the trick. I do not hear the motor at all, and I am very happy with that. The in-box instructions could be a little more detailed, but it’s easy enough to figure out!My cat is more active and engaged as well after only two hours of it being up and running. I don’t know if that’s instinctual because of running water or not, but I’m happy either way!Go ahead and buy it; it’s a solid choice.I would definitely recommend!

Our cats love it. They stare into the waterfall for minutes at a time (see photo). It’s fresh and clean and they love to drink from it.It’s extremely quiet (other than the faint relaxing sound of running water) as long as you clean it occasionally — if it starts making noise, just make sure the water level is topped off and the pump isn’t clogged. The included filter is great, and doesn’t need to be changed nearly as often as they recommend; simply wash it in the sink and put back. We use filtered water from a pitcher to refill the fountain, so the fountain’s filter is just to stop hair and food bits from clogging the pump. The water stays clean and fresh (our cats can tell) for weeks at a time.

I cannot recommend this product enough! I previously owned a Drinkwell Platinum pet fountain…it functioned fine but it was extremely difficult to clean and it had a lot of plastic crevices built into the interior design that were breeding grounds for disgusting goo-y bacteria colonies The previous Platinum fountain had to be cleaned even more frequently than recommended and it was a 2 hour task involving scrubbing out those aforementioned nasty crevices. This fountain however…it easily separates into 2 very open (crevice free) plastic compartments that are dishwasher safe. This makes cleaning ridiculously easy. It also is better than the Platinum version because the process of refilling it is much more simple….you just pour water directly into it…no water reservoir to unscrew and splash water all over the place when you try to put back into the fountain. Also, it is very affordable compared to the Platinum version. I highly recommend this product over PetSafe Drinkwell’s more expensive, difficult to clean, and less hygienic Platinum verion. I wish I had bought this fountain first!

I have 4 cats, prior to buying this fountain I had housed a large ‘automatic’ water dispenser from Petsmart. It was a plastic upside-down jug that held a lot of water and required little maintenance, however my cats were not drinking much from it. They would try to drink from any cups I was using or get into the sinks. I was concerned they were not getting enough hydration and didn’t want any urinary tract problems to develop, a friend who is also a cat-owner had similar issues with his 3 cats and recommended a fountain kin to this one but it had some bad reviews online. After some research, I took my chances on the PetSafe Drinkwell fountain and I’m happy I did! My cats have never been so interested in drinking water from their own bowl! Setting it up was easy and took all of 5 minutes (the hardest part was cutting the tape off the shipping box lol). Three of my cats were instantly drawn to the water fountain. My most cautious kitty (not pictured) was a little more reluctant but once he saw the others drinking, it was favorited right away. The water fountain has been out of the box for about an hour and they’re still hovering by it! I did set a pretty towel underneath the fountain, the moving water was tempting to play with and there were some splashes but I suspect after the new-ness of the object wears off, the cats will ignore this as a play thing and only drink from it. Even if they paw at the water occasionally, little sprinkles of wet on the floor are well worth knowing that my cats are hydrated and have a fresh, circulated water source.

I bought this fountain cause my cat loves to drink out of faucets, while I’m doing dishes, brushing my teeth he’s there drinking the running water. Also I seen my kitty Prizmo was constantly getting a UTI almost every week he would cry in pain while in his litter box, so I thought it be nice to get him a fountain for the fun while also helping him not drink dirty water. During this first month no urinating problems or pain, he loves drinking out of it. I never seen him drink so much. This morning while I cleaned it I was pulling clumps of hair and dirt from the filter. All this stuff my cat has been consuming for his first year of life made me sick as I was cleaning it. But this fountain stopped all of it completely never have I seen this clean of water in my cats bowl. Will be a life long buyer of this. Also while having no issues with it, no splashing when the water runs low the motor is loud and my cat is scared but keep a gallon jug near to top it off and it’s fine
