Our cats are accustomed to being fed at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. everyday. We ordered these in order to make sure they were fed while we were gone for two days. We weren’t sure if they would take to an automatic feeder like these since they are accustomed to being served like the royalty that they are. But they did, so much so that we came back home to three very content (and slightly pudgy) kitties. They are not impressed now that they don’t have food available 24/7 (they are back to being served a reasonable portion twice a day!) and I think one of them was trying to pull our suitcase out of the closet as a hint for us to leave again.

I bought this to replace a similar feeder that only held one pound of food, so I wouldn’t have to refill it as often. Setup was easy, I filled the feeder in one room and carried it into another without it falling apart. The lid pops off, you fill it, pop the lid back on, and you’re good to go.Some reviewers say the food doesn’t drop down on its own. This isn’t a problem for me, since my cat knows how to put his paw in there and get the food to come out. He has been eating out of a self feeder since he was 8-9 weeks old, maybe before, I don’t know. But he knows how to get food if it’s right there in front of him. We’ve been using this for about a week without a problem.I got the 3 lb size since I only have one cat, but the 6 lb definitely would have been fine, too. I could have poured the whole bag of food in.I would recommend this product and would buy it again.

I love my cat. I also hate waking up to her whiny butt at 5am every morning to fill up her food bowl. So I took the lazy easy way out, and got this pet feeder. Now I only have to wake up at 5am to fill her water bowl haha Okay it’s not that bad – but I’m glad this worked out. Just a note for cat owners though – watch your kitty’s weight! Used to have one of these when my kitty was skinny, and now she’s obese, which is cool and I still love her, but it was my own fault for not watching how much she was eating. However with how big and old she is now, there’s no sense for dieting, in fact now using a pet feeder again, have used this one for about 2 months now, and measured it out by the scoop the first few times to find out that even with this kitty BUFFET, she actually managed to eat exactly the same amount as she was eating before. So, 5 stars for ease of use, and really making this easier for both me as well as my favorite cat in the whole world.

Such a great purchase! This has helped me a lot with feeding my cats. Sometimes there isn’t always someone home to give them dry food during the day and this is one less thing I need to worry about during my day. I don’t have to worry if they have enough food because it will always be there and I can just reload it when it gets full. I wasn’t sure if one of my cats was going to like it but she does! In the beginning she was still waking us up in the morning to feed her but now she’s grown accustomed to it. Totally worth purchasing if you’re not home for long periods of time and are worried about your pets being hungry.

I have 7 dogs so I wanted feeder bowls instead of having to fill bowls daily. They hold about 2 cups of the medium bite food I feed them in the bottom. That’s what they get each day so that’s perfect for them. The food doesn’t fall on its on but they can only eat what they are supposed to each day so it’s not really a bad thing, more of a plus for me. I go around each day and give them a quick shake. When I fill them up thy last about a week before I have to refill them. My French Bulldogs can be rough so they have pulled the tops off of all of them and chewed them up. They are thick and good quality. My Great Dane has the bigger model that is great too.

I use this feeder to keep our three cats fed, we give them the blue Buffalo kibble and sometimes it gets a little clogged up in the opening for the kibble to fall down but there is always food in the bowl and our silly cats like to pick up their kibble like it’s finger food and eat it out of their paws so they put their paw up into the opening and unclog it. If you’re feeding larger bits of kibble it could be a problem.I was originally disappointed upon receiving this item because they sent me the water bowl by mistake and we have fancy cats that prefer to only drink out of our glasses but Amazon told me to keep the water bowl and they sent me the feeder also and it has been nice to have the set.Ordinarily our cats will knock over a glass to get to the water at the bottom before they’d ever drink water from their bowl or fountain but this water bowl has surprisingly resulted in less glasses being broken because when they can’t fit their noggin into the bottom of the glass they just go to this bowl.

I bought this for my stray cat that I have adopted because she lives outdoors. We built her a shelter and put this plus the matching water feeder in her shelter and I love it. It holds a week’s worth of food for her, keeps the food dry, dishwasher safe, easy to refill. I typically give pros and cons in my reviews, but have found no cons on this product. I like that the wind does not tip this product over. My last feeder seemed very top heavy and the slightest wind would over turn and the food would go everywhere. This has not had that issue.

Love this, used to have the automatic food and water ones, after a couple years the flaps that control the portion control eventually broke off and it became a free feeder anyways so this is better because it holds way more and is easier to clean and the automatic water fountains get annoying over time because they don’t seem to clean well anymore and you get tired of having to take it apart and clean fur out of the nasty pump and this holds a ton more water, so for a lot of reasons these are way easier, cheaper and bigger. With two cats I maybe have to fill both once every two weeks, but maybe not even that often, especially on the food. For everyone who has a problem with pets knocking them over, I’ve always had what’s pictured at the end of my island to keep all my pet stuff in the baskets and these two fit perfectly in there so there won’t be any knocking over. Think it was two target or Wal-Mart shelves and baskets I just left a shelf out of each for the feeders to fit. The water does make a kind of loud glug sound when the level goes down and it fills (it’s not often), it startled my cats the first time or two, now there’s no reaction and they continue on so its not a problem. I got the largest size ones, the 3 gallon for water and 12 lb for food and they are the same size. I don’t get all the bad cap reviews for the water one, maybe the cap issues are for the smaller models? I’m not sure what all those bad reviews are about, the model I have the cap is normal and easy, but I don’t over tighten it.

I have four cats. I used to feed them twice/day in four separate bowls. They have all gained a little weight since I decided to try this but they have calmed down now that they know the ‘endless food’ won’t end. It’s good for the price, does what it’s supposed to do. Just pick it up from the bottom if you’re moving it. For those who say the food doesn’t always drop down, my cats have no problem moving it around to get their food. I like that they have to work for it at times… it reminds them that I still run things in the house. :)

I had to take this away from my cat since he turned into a ravenous dry cat food pig. It worked though. It would have made my crazy life easier but I decided the 30 seconds I spent putting food in his bowl daily was worth it to keep him around because it brings me such joy when he gets lonely mid day while I’m sleeping and comes in a claws at my head to communicate it’s time to rub him down so a cloud of hair circulates throughout the room. Shortly after I decided the cat is a keeper, I just put my boyfriend in charge of dispensing food and went back to my 12 hour overnight work hell routine. Hopefully I get to keep him too.
