Most people seem to get this for their cats, however, I got this for my 80 lb German Shepherd to better control her portions as she was putting on weight, but clearly thought she was starving – she’d bark at us next to the dog food holder between meals. I have this set to dispense food four times a day, so she’s getting the same amount of food, but can feel like she’s eating more often. Setup was easy, programming was easy and directions were clear. The bowl comes off easily for cleaning, but hasn’t come off when she or her sister has pawed at it. They have only bested the lock once, by pawing the whole thing over and I think the force of falling over knocked the lock loose. They’re smart girls, but haven’t figured out how to unlock it intentionally, nor how to dispense portions outside of the programmed times. They both seem to know whose food it is, as her sister almost never eats the food there, though she has some kind of internal portion control and skips meals when she just doesn’t feel like she needs it. I would definitely recommend this automatic pet feeder.

LOVE this pet feeder. I’ve had the same brand of pet feeder for years (different brand than this one) and kept having to buy replacements because a piece of it would break. I was so fed up, but my cat needs to be fed a certain amount of her prescription cat food a day, so I really needed an automatic feeder to help me out. I saw a different PetLibro feeder that got rave reviews and saw they had an updated version and there was a coupon available when I purchased. I jumped on it! It looked pretty user friendly, the new design looked like it hopefully wouldnt break overtime, and it was large enough to hold a decent amount of dry food securely.Took me only a few minutes to setup, but o was extra skeptical about the amount of food dispersed, but PetLibro says they disperse in .06 cups amounts. I tested it for a 0.48 cups (just about half cup) and it was right on the money! Sold. Now my spoiled princess gets 4 disbursements of food throughout the day to space out and regulate her eating, and I know she’s getting the exact amount she needs of her prescription food. This machine is 1000% better than my last.Only small issue I had was the programming buttons don’t light up and don’t have bright white symbols on them, so they are a bit difficult to see, but I just grabbed a flashlight while programming and it was all good.

Update 5/22/21: The company reached out and refunded my purchase for my trouble in exchange for changing my review to five stars.___________________________Update 4/8/21: Recently the machine has been refusing to dispense meals because it says the food is stuck in the chute. This happens even when there isn’t a lot of food in the bowl. I then have to shake a few kernels out of the chute to get it to work. Most of the time it dispenses the food, but recently this has been happening more and more often, which means I would not trust this to feed my cat while I was away. Really disappointing so I took off another star.___________________________Overall good product. My cat eats 3/4 cups a day, which after trial and error I figured out was 12 portions. Even though there are a few problems, it’s still worth using the product and I would buy it again. Programming is easy once you read the instructions thoroughly. I took off 1 star for 3 reasons:1) The blue light is really bright, like hurts my eyes bright, and I feel like it’s unnecessary. It could be dimmer or not there at all until there’s a warning. The solid blue just means everything is working well, which could also be said by no light at all.2) The bowl is shallow and food gets blocked up the shute easily. I originally tried dispensing my cat’s full-day meal (12 portions, or 3/4 cups) all at once and quickly realized it was too much. It would work better if the bowl was deeper/the shute was positioned higher to allow the food to pile rather than sit in one layer as it slides down. So I had to adjust by splitting the meal into 2 and feeding my cat twice a day, which is fine since I’m not actually feeding him, but it was something I had to adjust. Even doing 8 portions at night now I’ve still seen it not dispense the last portion due to too much food in the bowl, even though I can just push the food down with my finger and there’s still a lot of space left. Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but maybe it’s something they can redesign in their next model.3) I set the program up on a Friday but did a manual feed on the first day, and the feeder worked fine. Then the next Friday it skipped his feeding, so I reprogrammed it. Don’t know if that fixed the problem, but the next Friday after that it worked fine again and it hasn’t missed any feedings since. That just lessened its reliability in my eyes.Overall would recommend.

The media could not be loaded. This 6L timed feeder is as good as it’s 4L version. It comes with a tray that not too shallow but not too deep. The screen is much easier to see than the 4L. The buttons on the white version are much bigger and easier to press. I only wish that the button color could be given different color so it’s easier to see. Instructions were easy to follow.Meals is up to 6 per day. In each meal, you can have a maximum of 50 portions. Using a measuring spoon, one portion is indeed 1 tablespoon. The kibbles/cat dry food is based on Iams Proactive Health Indoor Weight & Hairball Care With Chicken & Turkey Adult Premium Dry Cat Food. The feeder has a sensor that prevents the bowl from overfilling. It’ll continue dispensing the remaining portions once some space on the bowl clears up. The first one to two portions coming out will not yet be perfect so make sure to monitor the feeder as you test it out throughout the day. After that, it comes out as it should be. It was a bit difficult to take out the food tank for the first time (vs. 4L) but it gives me confidence that it won’t be easily separated from its base when toppled. When the food level is low, you will see a red led indicator lighting up.The lid on the food container now has a lock and doesn’t require a desiccant as compared to 4L version. The power cable (micro USB) is much longer about 70-75inches long. Batteries are not included. Overall, it’s a decent timed feeder and you also get a responsive customer support. It would have been perfect for my cat on a diet had the portion size been smaller than the 4L (2.5 tsps / <1 tbsp).

I’d like to start by saying I have no idea why Amazon is asking me to rate the “thickness” of an automated cat feeder as though that’s a make or break feature, but let’s just say that this machine has a Goldilocks thickness.I looked at a bunch of these and went with this one because it holds enough food (but not so much to be bulky), seemed easy to program, doesn’t look ugly like most feeders, and has battery backup but runs via a cable so you don’t burn through D batteries. It’s early days, but it checks all the boxes so far. I don’t use the programmable voice function because I don’t know why I’d want cats to associate my voice with food. And besides, the cats stare at the thing for about three minutes before the food is dispensed anyway. I also like that the little blue light turns red when the food level is low so you know to fill it before the cats stage a mutiny. All in all I recommend it, but I’ve only used it for a couple days.

SO disappointed!!I tried contacting customer service 3 times & got ZERO response! They only provide an email. No 800 number. The instruction print is too small to read.I got it to dispense at night but not morning. If customer service would’ve helped me I would’ve tried to make it work. But they didn’t.Update…The company contacted me to help remedy the problem for a better review. They’ve sent me (no charge-FREE) a different automatic feeder that’s much easier to understand & set up.It’s on a scheduled feeding plan that I’ve set up to feed my older cat small amounts 3X per day.The print is larger & much easier to read & follow.

As a pet owner, I try to feed my cat the recommended amount per day. For my current cat food, it’s between 1/3 cups to 2/3 cups per day for my cat’s weight. This pet feeder doesn’t let me chose the amount of cups per meal, just the number of dispenses. I found out that 5 dispenses is about 1/3 cup. This equals to 0.066 cups per dispense. I supplied this chart so you can find the perfect combination to meet your specific daily amount.Equation for this: Total Cups(TC) = # of Meals(M) * (# of dispenses(D) * 0.066)TC = M * (D * 0.066)or alternatively:D = (TC÷M)÷0.066M=TC÷(D*0.066)Let’s say I want find the number of dispenses. I want to dispense 5 meals a day, 0.66 cup daily(0.66 ÷ 5) ÷ 0.066 = 2 dispenses per mealOr, I want to find the number of meals. I want to dispense 5 per meal, 0.66 dailyM=0.66÷(5*0.066) = 2 meals a dayI hope this helps.

We purchased this feeder to replace an older one that was no longer reliable due to the food not being fully dispensed. The old one could only dispense up to 3 meals a day and we were never truly happy with the design. This feeder is so much better. The locking feature on the top of the feeder ensures that the food won’t come out if your cat tips it over. The feeding bowl locks tightly so it would take a pretty strong or smart cat to dislodge it from the feeder.I really love the colored light bar that makes it easy to see the status of the feeder at a glance. If it’s all steady blue, you don’t need to worry.Although the portion size if fixed, you can totally control the number of portions (up to 50) per day and allot them among the 6 potential feeding times. This gives you a ton of flexibility. We have two cats and this one is going to our older cat that is obsessed with food. He absolutely needs a feeder to control his food intake, or he will just eat until he is sick. I was having a little bit of difficulty converting the ml to cups, but I ended up setting up 6 feedings a minute apart and measuring the total output to arrive at the right number of portions. We give him 3/4 cup a day, which equaled 10 portions for this feeder. After getting the number of portions down, I set up the feeding times to spread out the 10 portions among the available 6 feeding times. The process to set the number of portions and the number of feeders is a little tricky at first, but once you become familiar with the control panel and the buttons, it is very simple to set.I love that this feeder came with the power supply and also has the battery backup built-in.I have included a picture of how we cat-proofed our feeder. It’s not a pretty solution, but it works and it’s in our basement so we don’t really care how it looks. Our cat is an expert at getting to the food and we had to go to a lot of trouble to secure the old feeder. The shape of this feeder made it much easier to keep him from breaking into the food and he hasn’t even tried to tip it yet.I highly recommend this product.

I purchased this product after reading the positive reviews and looking into several different models. I have 2 cats, who each eat roughly a half a cup a day in multiple feedings of small meals. They both need to be limited to their 1/2 cup potions, and I was having a hard time portioning this out when we go out of town. This machine allowed me to specify how much food is dispensed at specific times during the day (they dispense in increments of tablespoons). Setup was easy, choosing the times of feeding and portion size has taken all of the thinking out of how to get them their portioned food throughout the day.The container of the feeder holds a large amount of their food, so I will not have to refill it all that often, and it locks tight. The base feels sturdy, and the bowl is a good size and snaps unto the base of the feeder. I like that I can adjust the schedule and amounts if needed.I wish I purchased this product years ago.

Really love this feeder. My cat is a binge eater so previously when i fed her she would scarf it all down so fast and throw up almost daily. With this she hasn’t thrown up at all. I can space out her feedings into small portions throughout the day and have peace of mind while im at work! She caught on to how it works in just one day!! She hears the feeder go off and drop her food and she goes running. Thank you so much!! Youve given me a peice of mind not worrying about her getting sick and being able to still feed her while im at work or out of town. I only have one cat so i cant speak on how well it holds up to big dogs or multiple pets. Its very durable and super easy to put together and set up. Once you get the hang of it adjusting settings and portions is a breeze. Definitely purchase batteries as backup in case the power fails. The top of the feeder has a lock so you shouldn’t have to worry about your pets getting into the top. Cant say enough good things!!
