With movie theaters gone due to covid, I decided to pull the trigger and get this projector and a 120 inch screen for movie nights…simply put, its amazing…perfect quality, suoer sharp focus, and seriously bright! Also it is whisper quiet and at around $500, its as good a deal as it gets. Haven’t tried the 3D yet, but a Mad Max Fury Road 3D viewing is on my movie list….just get it and enjoy movies the way they were meant to be

This is a great projector for the price. Hooked up a sound bar for better sound. Also hooked up iPad to stream from Netflix, Disney plus and prime. I even hooked up blue ray DVD player to watch old movies. Bought an AV cart to put all devices in one spot so I can watch in my livingroom or roll it outside with ease. The picture quality is amazing. Bright enough to start watching movies outside at dusk. I wish it had more hook ups but with a little research and purchasing a few extra cables I have been able to get what I need out of it.

The difference between an 80 dollar projector and this projector is night and day its a thousand times better then the 80 dollar projector . Gaming on this is a joy and gaming on the 80 dollar one was a nightmare ugly gross picture this projector looks like a normal tv screen on the wall so quit debating and get this one

Bought this projector to replace an acer brand projector with a failing fan motor. We have the projector in the family room and use it daily to watch TV programs and movies. On average it gets used about 15-20 hours a week. The projector is much quieter than any other DLP projector Ive owned over the years. In fact, even with a “library level” of sound, I can not hear it running at all when the projector is in eco/regular mode. When in bright mode, for 3D movies or gaming, a very modest fan can be heard but it certainly on par with any other comparable DLP projector. The thickness of the projector itself and also its depth front to back, is a bit bigger than others ive owned but only by about an inch or so.The remote is backlit when buttons are pressed which is a nice touch. The image is bright enough that I can comfortably watch tv with 4 60watt ceiling fan bulbs being on and the image isnt washed out, but of course this and any other projectors are designed to be used in low light environments, in which this projector has a superb image quality. Multiple digital adjustments of keystone, image position and digital zoom to make fine adjustments to image size and even can adjust the levelling of image if your projector mount is not level or maybe your screen masking is not perfectly straight. A two part adjusting lens lets you dial in the perfect image size for your setup too. This projector is for a throw distance of about 15ft max for a 100″ screen image. My throw is about 11ft from the lens to the screen and I have it projecting an image size of 110″ wide X 66″ tall.I havent used the 3D capability of the projector yet but anticipate the quality to be on par but perhaps even better as there are multiple 3D settings/options for the best experience using that mode just make sure you have 3D DLP shutter lens glasses.Overall, I am very pleased with this projector and would recommend it to others eapecially if looking to have a high lumen output that is for everyday use as a primary display in the home.I did purchase the amazon offered insurance/warranty based on service level and price alone versus cost of projector and its typical lifespan.

I bought this one to replace my Optoma HD131Xe I had purchased back in 2014. The old one is still working fine, but I was looking to upgrade based on the improved brightness of the newer model. The HD146X has a beautiful, sharp, and bright picture that I project onto a large wall. The brighter picture is especially appreciated when watching 3D movies. I’m very happy with the purchase. My only small complaint is that there is only one HDMI input where the previous models had two. The included speaker is a nice convenience, but you can also connect to a sound bar for greater range. All in all, well worth the investment for the upgrade.

First impressions. Wow! Should have upgraded sooner! I had a 15-20 year old Epson 83c in my basement for movies. It was okay. But the color accuracy was kinda poor. Only 1024×768 resolution. And it wasn’t very bright. As long as the lights were out. It was okay.Just installed the optoma hd146x and wow. Why did I wait so long to upgrade?! I have it about 14’ (old projector was about 11’ and wouldn’t fill the whole screen) from a 120” screen. It looks fantastic! It’s very bright and even with the lights on it’s very watchable. Very happy! I wish it had more inputs. But it’ll work fine as I can put a switcher before it to pull the audio and have multiple inputs.

This projector looks great. We have it set up in a fairly bright room and you can watch it in the daytime except for a few darker toned movies. The one draw back is the manufacturer recommends the projector be level during use. That means you can’t have the projector flush against the ceiling aimed down, and then keystone corrected though the projector does have keystone correction. Other than that, it is movie magic for less than 600.

Compared to my previous 15 year old Sanyo projector, picture quality and brightness are off the charts. For the price, I can’t imagine there will be anything to surpass it anytime soon.

We were very happy with our 15-year old Optoma (H77) projector that finally died, forcing us to get a new projector. I was pleasantly surprised to see HD146X selling for only $550. This is a great price for us – granted that the projector only displays 1080p signals (still a better display quality than out old projector) and has much better brightness and dynamic range. If you are looking for a great value for money (I can’t really justify the big price difference between UHD and 1080P projectors) then you can’t go much better than this projector.

After purchasing two different “budget” projectors for our office and being disappointed with the picture quality we decided to spend a bit more to see if this name brand Optima would deliver a better result. The answer is a clear and crisp: yes it absolutely does. The difference in picture quality is night and day – the budget projectors are just not even playing the same game. That said, the budget brands are probably fine for occasional use or just watching movies in a dark room if you can set them up close to center of screen. But if you need a projector for presentations with clear wording and use in rooms with some light, then this unit is well worth the spend.
