“Sit anywhere” Uni-Q Sound

At the heart of the evolved Q Series is the Uni-Q driver array. KEF’s signature innovation places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange cone, bringing the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer than ever to realisation. The result is a more detailed, more accurate three-dimensional sound image, which is dispersed more evenly throughout the room than is possible with a conventional speaker. Uni-Q’s ultra-wide dispersion is further enhanced by KEF’s ‘tangerine’ waveguide over the tweeter dome.

Uni-Q sound taken to the next level

With the addition of the damped tweeter loading tube providing a gentle termination of sound produced from the back of the tweeter, lower treble performance is improved dramatically and a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover provides cleaner bass.
To optimize the resolution and purity of the Q Series bookshelf speakers, the Uni-Q driver has been repositioned to the center of the cabinet to reduce unwanted internal resonance and adds refinement to their sonic clarity and detail.

CFD Designed Port

Featuring a Computational Fluid Dyanmics (CFD) port design with the port repositioned to the rear of the speaker, clarity is improved by reducing the audibility of the midrange leakage through the port. The geometry of the ports have been tuned to minimize turbulence at higher levels resulting in a reduction in port noise and less LF compression.

Q Series Optimised

To optimise the high resolution sonic image of these speakers we re-positioned the Uni-Q driver at the centre of the cabinet. This avoids any possibility of standing waves and reduces resonance within the enclosure. By facing the low frequency port to the rear we reduce the audibility of midrange leakage.

10 reviews for KEF Q350 Bookshelf Speakers (Pair, Black)

Paired with a Loxjie A30Sound is incredibly balanced, very good bass response even without a subwoofer (even at modest EQ settings) quality is unmatched at the sub-$600 price which they are often available. Resolution of sound is better than many headphones I have, and there is no detail unheard. I’d buy these at full price now that I’ve heard them, but I’m glad they are normally on sale. Placement isn’t super critical as I’m no placement expert. Even with the comparably weak amp I’m using (18W at 8 ohms) the speakers are loud enough for my attached kitchen / living room.10/10

I set these up for my dad with a Yamaha receiver, he’s 75 and said it was a waste of time because he can’t hear that well anyway. He was wrong, once these turned on he was in shock. Clean crisp sound made a huge difference.

I have this paired with a 60wpc amplifier and it’s plenty loud. Might downgrade the amplifier to 40 wpc. For accuracy, dynamic range, and price, these are hard to beat. I chose this over the B&W606. This bookshelf can fill a room. Add a subwoofer if you want to hear things under 50 Hz. Choose the B&W606 if you want a slightly better tweeter. It’s not a completely neutral speaker. It does have a slight coloration that makes it more musical. If you want something that is accurate to the point of clinical sterility, you need a budget 10 times bigger.Be aware that grilles are sold separately. I like to look at the cones so I never bought grilles.

Before buying these KEFs, I like many others obsessionally belabored the choice. I read a zillion reviews. Watched a zillion YouTube reviews. I considered all the current bookshelf speakers that are being talked about in the current year. I bought and auditioned the Triangle Bro 3, the Klipsch RP 600M, Elac Unifi 2.0 and this KEF Q350. All of these speakers are highly regarded. The Q350 was not released recently but the KEF sound with the Uni-Q drivers has been praised for many years. (The new KEF LS50 Meta is their current media darling. Would have loved to buy it but it costs literally twice as much. And these are already pretty pricey for my budget. 😊)After much critical listening I decided to keep these.Their precision and detail are simply better and more exact than the others. Their imaging is remarkable. And aside from that, they simply sound more beautiful. Like the difference between a really nice Yamaha piano and a Steinway. The sound is richer. The notes resonate better. My second favorite was the Elac Unfi 2.0. Really great also. But didnt quite have as good separation as the Q350s. The KEFS also have a comforting sound. That’s why I use the term “warm”. It’s not that it is colored. It just sounds more real. (Like the difference a tube amp makes. Just more realness.)As many reviews have mentioned, these speakers will sound pretty different depending on how you position them in the room. I intend to try many more configurations as time goes on to see where they work the best in my given space. These speakers have a very strong centering of the vocals. I wouldn’t mind diffusing that a little bit if I can. Ive already heard that I can alter that a bit by placement changes.I’m running these with an Elac 10” subwoofer which fills out the sound nicely at the bottom. I may try another woofer to get a faster tighter bass hit in the future.I use Qobuz and stream high bit rate files whenever available. Definitely ups the game well beyond typical streaming (Spotify)I will report back on this review after Ive “broken them in” (Some people claim this opens the sound stage over time. It may simply be a placebo effect or my own hearing re-learning what to expect from the given sound source. We shall see…)At close range with a bit of toe-in, these speakers are like listening to giant studio-grade headphones. The exactness is thrilling. Like headphones without anything clamping your head. 😁Oh, and looks wise, they are very elegant. Unique. So far I’m digging these KEFs 👍🏻

I always thought that expressions like “break-in” “opening-up” etc was Audiophile ka-ka.I was wrong. Amazing speakers but they take a long time to “open up”. Purchased these in Jan 2021 and about a month ago something happened where they just became magic. The highs became very clear, they are still nicely rolled off but not as much as before they were “broken in”. They are bass heavy if you have them too “close” to the wall. I have mine about 10-11” away and it’s still too much some times. I use the supplied foam plugs when needed since I don’t have the space to move them further away from the wall. The mids are still nicely laid back (for my ears) but they have also opened up. In other words they are perfect now.If I ever go back to towers it’ll be KEF’s. +++++

This speaker is easy to setup, can be placed both vertically and horizontally. It has excellent imaging, stereo pops in front like a live concert. Has excellent range, works very well for both movies and music. Music is where it shines the best, it changes character with different amps. Works great with yamaha 2 channel integrated as well as mono blocks. With mono blocks, it can easily deliver a hall filling sound without any distortion.

These speakers are awesome! I’m using them for front speakers in a 5.1 set up. Bass is very good. Imaging is what they do best. However, kef puts them on sale quite often. I certainly wouldn’t like them as much for $749. For $499 you can’t do better!!

After going through a few speakers with my Yamaha amp, KEF delivers the most dynamic and enjoyable sound.I’ve tried:Klipsch RP-600M – didn’t like them at allTriangle BR03 – liked them, but when comparing side by side with KEF, Triangles sounded more fatiguing.ELAC DBR62 – liked these too, but similar to Trangles, when comparing side by side with KEF, Elacs were more fatiguing.I have a very lively room which echoes and does not have a lot of acoustic treatment in it.However KEF seem to handle it just fine, without getting obnoxious.Another plus is the bass, I really don’t need a sub-woofer with these speakers. Its not your boombox or car type of a bass where you hear it thumping across a lake, its a good proper base to the drums and instruments, giving them weight and more of a body.Sound staging is really good, very wide.Sweet-spot is really good too. I was getting annoyed with the other speakers that I’ve listed to, where if I moved my head literally just a few inches to either side from the exact focus center, the sound would shift dramatically to the side. So I had to be locked into that position to enjoy a center stage. These speakers are a lot more forgiving and you still enjoy them even with another person sitting next to you, which offsets your center position quite a bit.Really enjoying these speakers.

Is it worth $700+? I can’t say it is. However, I bought mine around the $550 mark. 10/10 recommend at that price!

Beautiful design. Love the fact the KEF logo is in black on black plaque. Looks absolutely chic, sophisticated and modern. The box is very well built. For some reason, I thought “Uni-Q Driver Array” type on the speaker rim would be back lit, but wasn’t. I am very happy that it wasn’t.Sounds extremely clear. Hi and Mid are smooth and rich. Wish there is a bit more bass, but perhaps adding subwoofer is better idea anyways. It does what it suppose to do very well.Great product. Very satisfied. Highly recommend.
