I have found that the Coman Professional Video Camera Monopod with Tripod Stand brings the advantages of a monopod without the instability of a monopod. The mount and handle provides for movement in virtually any direction although it cannot flip to the side for a vertical shot with the camera. I won’t dock it for that since it is primarily a video monopod and it does move all the correct positions for that style of photography. I found this monopod outstanding for promotional real estate photography. There are four different areas of height adjustment allowing for just the right vantage point. Unlike a tripod, this monopod allows for photo captures from extremely space limited vantage points where a tripod would not be feasible, such as the corner of a room between a sofa and coffee table. The feet can be set up like tripod feet and can be adjusted in a number of ways. Because the feet can lay flat to the floor, they can slip under furniture and allow me into tight spaces. There is some helpful play between the feet and the monopod that allows me to tilt it as needed to take a level shot. When I have the monopod tilted to the exact position I desire, I can step on one of the tripod feet and my weight secures the position. The adjustment goes higher than most monopods which is helpful for shooting over some fairly high objects. Overall, it seems well made. It makes for very compact travel. I carry it outside of its carrying bag unless I am not going to use it for awhile because it takes some effort to put it into its bag.

I’ve used both name-brand and off-brand monopods and this one from Coman holds it’s own against the name-brand and then some. I honestly like it better than other top of the line options. Very sturdy, it will stay standing on its own with a ~10lb camera rig and is relatively sturdy. Love the way the tripod plate clip is designed, very easy to lock in or remove. It even has a small wrench hidden in the plate for tightening and removing. Lots of small details with this that clearly show the design was thought through. Overall very impressed, I’d encourage others to consider over spending more for a name brand.

This is a robust, full featured monopod, and as such it is very heavy at 4+ pounds. The head is very nearly half of that weight. The head spins off easily enough to expose a 3/8 stud which will retract to reveal a 1/4 stud. Similarly the base will unscrew, halving the weight again, leaving one with a relatively light 61.5 inch pole that will serve very well for boom use. With a gimbal on top, this could easily simulate low altitude drone shots. The big issue here is the sections are held by plastic flip locks. The locks cannot be adjusted, so I know from experience that in time they will wear or sometimes they fatigue and break, rendering the extension useless. The head is a very well thought out, fluid damped, auto-return platform. The quick release base provides both 3/8 and 1/4 stud storage as well as a place for the hex tool to exchange and attach the studs. The large Arca style plate is almost 4.75 inches long, but only seems to fit properly in one direction. It is not compatible with any other similar plates I have on other video or gimbal heads. The base is a bit more limited as it only has a 3/8 stud, and that has a blank extension on top, so it could possibly bottom out or not screw in at all on certain devices. I assume that extra length helps to provide additional support when used as intended. There are only two working positions for the legs, held firmly by the metal (aluminum?) latches. They are absolutely not plastic as mentioned by another reviewer. The included head will install on the legs directly, giving a fluid head attached to a basic ball head allowing a full 90 degree tilt to the side if desired. The locking collar will disable the ball head, or it can be locked up to allow full movement of the ball. While there are provided instructions, anyone familiar with photography equipment probably won’t need them anyway. There is a QR code on the monopod, but it sends one to a Chinese (?) only website.Outside of the weight and the latches, I don’t think anyone could ask for more from a device such as this given the price. It can provide a very versatile platform from which to operate any type of photographic device.

I’ve been wanting a monopod for a while. I do some real estate and landscape photography and video, and I’ve often thought it would be easier with a monopod instead of tripod. I was right. It is considerably easier to carry this.I was not expecting this kind of quality at this price point. It is heavy duty and well-constructed. My camera, lens, and accessories weigh about 6.5 lbs. and this handles it with no problem. The base is heavy, and the legs are long enough to provide good balance. The base can also be removed which cuts down on the weight considerably. The fluid video head is also large and heavy but is of excellent quality. The quick release plate is quite long and there are safety catches that keep it from sliding off even if it is not fully tightened. For photography I replaced the video head with a much lighter ball head. Indoors the legs provide plenty of support and I can use it much like a tripod to get sharp images. The drawback is that you don’t want to walk away from it, like any monopod it could easily fall over. But it is steady enough to let go as long I am right there to catch it if it starts to fall. Outdoors I removed the legs to make it lighter to carry around. For video the fluid head really shines. It has a smooth pan and tilt motion that is easy to use even when moving the monopod to get camera movement. With both the head and the base detached it can double as a boom arm. My gimbal can also be attached for make the movement even smoother. It comes with a nice case made from the same material as my backpack, so it is sturdy and should hold up to lots of use. It has both handles and a shoulder strap.I’m still learning about all I can do with this, but it has already improved my work. At $119.99 I highly recommend it.

I really like this monopod except I can’t get Coman.com to respond with a price or where I can purchase extra quick release plates for the product. I use at least 2 different cameras with this monopod and need to be able to make quick changes. It’s a good system but not so good if they can’t supply accessories

A client got one of these for me and I liked it so much I bought a second. The tripod head alone is nearly worth. The Allen wrench holder built into the shoe is a nice touch. If you unscrew the bottom part the rest can screw into a tripod (where the head would go) giving you extra height in a crowd.

TLDR: One of the best aluminum monopods I have ever usedI was super impressed with this monopod. I won’t go over everything in this review. I’ll just touch on the things that stood out to me. Before I go further I really feel you should consider the price of this monopod. I have bought several $100ish monopods over the year and I was disappointed with all of this. This was not the case with this monopod for MY purposes.First is the weight. Keep in mind this isn’t a carbon fiber monopod, which should be obvious considering the price. It’s a bit heavy but not overly so. For how big this monopod is and the fact that it is made from aluminum, the weight is about what I expected. The bottom feet area was something that stood out to me in particular. Well not so much the feet but the connection to the monopod itself. If you want to “bend” the monopod you simply pull up the little orange sleeve and you can tilt this down quite a bit and if you do it at the cut out you can actually get all the way down to horizontal. There is a thumb screw where you can control how much friction there is when moving it down and you can completely lock it with that screw at any angle. Really unique little system that I liked a lot.The leg locks are plastic and may not not the highest quality but certainly good enough at this price point. The video head is adequate enough for smaller gear like DSLRs or mirrorless rigs. There is a pan knob that you can use to control the friction strength of your pans. This isn’t a fluid head, nor did I expect it to be at this price point, but it was dampened enough for smooth pans with smaller gear. This thing gets really high. I am 6’2″ and when extended all the way up I actually cannot see the top of the head. The bag it comes with is absolutely top notch. It is made from a nice thick nylon type material that should provide plenty of protection for this monopod when you are traveling around. All in all for this price I was quite impressed.
