I have researched Dog Foods and this is a rice based dog food with a good amount of meat product / protein in it. The thing is you don’t want to feed your dog corn meal or wheat based dog food unless you like to smell dog fats and have dog accidents all over your house. When I adopted my current dog he was farting all over the house. I researched the issue and he was given to me eating a popular corn meal based product. I know there are lots of high end products are are rice based but they cost an arm and a leg and a lab eating those can bankrupt you. I see this products can be had here on Amazon or Tractor supply so it’s readily available and very reasonably priced. The lamb sometimes commands a higher price and the beef based product is the bargain at this time.

Been feeding this food and or beef or lamb but the same brand just to switch protein sources and the results Have been amazing. My shepherd always had allergy issues with certain grains and corn and since using this about 5-6 years ago she has been amazing and you would never know she is 11 years old. EvenMy Yorkie loves this food and neither dog has had a hot spot or stinky stool or any issues with their skin for the last 6 years. It’s rebranded Taste of the Wild for half the costPls rate my review helpful if it is, thnx so much.

We have a long haired German shepherd. I use to feed him taste of the wild ($60) when he was a pup, but I couldn’t afford it after he was two. I then fed him Walmart olroy, his inner parts of paws started to turn red and he would lick them constantly. I’m now on the 3rd bag of diamond naturals and his paws are back to normal and he doesn’t scarf his food down like a wolf that hasn’t eaten since winter. Very happy with this purchase.

A starving young dog wandered into my yard on Feb 14. He could barely stand and was bones and skin. He was vomitting and defacating goo and mucus as he was full of worms. His eyes showed pleading for help. His smile was genuine. I certainly did not want a dog. People have been dumping animals or moving away leaving pets behind here. I didnt know anything about dog food and about grain and corn fillers. I just gave him some fresh eggs and rabbit meat from a farm mixed in some food I bought at the store till the Diamond Naturals food arrived. Then had him de-wormed by a vet. My bag of Diamond Naturals arrived. I shopped by price vs quality and chose it. He is nearly done with the first 40# bag. I went with the beef because it was cheapest. Its all he eats now with very few treats. I walk him at night after work and I am very pleased. Changed collars twice this month as his neck has quadrupled in size. He is a machine whom could probably out-play any dog on the planet. Im now the only one who can walk him because he is too strong for my wife and kids. His fur is thick and soft, his whiskers have tripled in length on his chin and face. He has grown from starving puppy to healthy dog in a month and a half. I certainly see no reason to change his food or reccomend any other food to anyone else. It is outstanding in every way. The ingredient list is stacked with good stuff. The food pebbles are good sized and shape. Ive seen first hand the quality of this product and support it.B Hall

Diamond Naturals is my go-to dog food from this point on! This incredibly affordable natural dog food is packed full of amazing and healthful ingredients you would have never thought your canine friend should be benefiting from. As I read the ingredient list, I was honestly surprised. From Live and Active cultures (YES! I said live and active cultures), to antioxidant packed fruits and veggies to seeds and nuts along with natural grass fed lamb … this dog food beats Blue Buffalo in every aspect. I have Mastiffs (French Mastiffs and South African Boelboer Mastiffs) and their digestive systems depend heavily on properly balanced natural foods. Ever since I took a chance with Diamond Naturals .. their overall health, temperament and appearance has greatly approved. It was a rather easy transition from their previous dog food to Diamond Naturals and they absolutely love the taste of the food. Their Veterinarian also greatly approves this brand after showing her the ingredient list. Pumpkin, kale, chia seeds, flax, live and active cultures, just to name a few …. and less than $1 per pound …. how can you pass this up?

We have a pit/lab mix that has a very touchy digestive system and probably some food allergies. With all of the usual stuff we found at the grocery store, and even some of the pet store food like science diet, she had very loose stool and bald patches from irritated skin. One food even caused her face to swell!! So after reading about diamond naturals online we decided to give it a try, our sweet puppy loves it and she is perfectly healthy after 9+ months on it. She hasn’t had a reaction to any of the flavors and her coat looks really healthy with energy to spare! We did stop buying it on Amazon though because we can get it cheaper locally at Tractor Supply Co.

This is a great and cheap alternative dog food brands like Pedigree, IAMS, and some Purina that serves corn and by product meals as the main ingredient, which is not very good for your pet. My dog really enjoyed eating this compared to other brands (but every dog is different, so your dog might not enjoy it the same). This is definitely a great choice within a reasonable budget and the bag itself is pretty large. I have a terrier and a corgi mix and this would feed them for about a month. The main ingredient within the Diamond Natural is food meal and vegetables:”Lamb meal, ground white rice, cracked pearled barley, peas, millet, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), egg product, rice bran, dried beet pulp, natural flavor, fish meal, flaxseed, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, dried chicory root, kale, chia seed, pumpkin, blueberries, oranges, quinoa, dried kelp, coconut, spinach, carrots, papaya, yucca schidigera extract, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus reuteri, vitamin E supplement, beta carotene, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, niacin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin (vitamin B2), vitamin D supplement, folic acid.”My answers to the most frequently asked questions:Is this food grain free?No it is not, but it is not the main ingredient.Does this product contain sweet potatoes? My dog is allergic. Thanks! You need to check the ingredients list, but from the list above, it does not.why did the price go up from 36.99 to 58.79?It fluctuates depending on demand and the fees associated with working with Amazon. Wait till it goes down to $36.Definitely recommend as a level above well known brands that utilize corn as the main ingredient and trying to stay within budget.Like our review? We made the switch to “premium” dog food 5 or 6 years ago. We have 4 border collies and one aussie so we wanted something that had high-ish protein (but not too much) and contained authentic ingredients. We’ve tried Blue Buffalo, Blue Wilderness, Fromms, Natural Balanace, Nutro Natural Choice,Merrick, Spot’s Stew, Chicken Soup, and probably a few others in there somewhere along the lines. We found many of the foods to be too rich for a few of dogs leaving them with terrible diarrhea (what a terrible for all of us). We ultimately ended up using Nutro Natural Choice for a few years. We knew it wasn’t the healthiest of “healthy” dog foods but it certainly was much better than typical grocery store foods. We would usually buy it from Pet Valu or PetSmart. When we were lucky enough to catch it on sale, we’d spend about $47 per bag 30 pound bag. Given we have 5 dogs, we go through food about every 10 days.I happened to run across Diamond after doing another brand search among the different dog food brands out there and thought I would give it a try because of it’s high rating from a trusted source. I am LITERALLY so happy I did. Not only is it SUPER affordable (mind you, junk foods at Walmart cost upwards of $25) and a 40 pound bag, but it is incredibly healthy and my dogs (who are picky and not food motivated) usually eat almost their whole serving when it is feeding time.

I have 2 dogs (70 and 50lbs). The older has a corn/grain allergy, so choosing food was a little tougher. We started with Taste of the Wild, but it was really expensive and my dog seemed to be getting a little fat.. (okay, a lot fat). We switched to Diamond Naturals a couple years ago and he LOVES it. Because it’s healthier than the regular dog foods, I give it to my other non-allergy dog as well, and she loves it too. The food doesn’t leave their breath smelling bad at all, it’s healthy with very few fillers, and both dogs coats look healthy and shiny. I used to work for the FDA and made sure to pick out a food that was going to be good for my dogs.Recently, I noticed the packaging material changed from a paper-type bag to plastic. The shape and color of the food pellets also changed. The price stayed the same. At first, this was concerning because there was nothing online about a recipe change. I continued to feed it to my dogs with the same results. I see how this could throw some people off, but it wasn’t a big deal, and my dogs still love it.Lastly, you’ll notice the price fluctuates on amazon. I almost always buy the 40lb bag at $32 shipped. Sometimes you’ll see it go up to upper $40s. I usually have 1 or 2 bags in storage and rotate them through, so it’s easy to keep costs low, buying at these lower prices. Enjoy!

I am a physician and spent time researching dog food and allergies. I felt there was not a lot of evidence based studies behind the “grain free” foods that are much much more expensive. I decided to consult with our Vet who told us that “grain free” was essentially a gimmick and there was no evidence to support it. Furthermore, she explained and referenced studies that indicated that grain free dog foods were actually nutrient deficient and caused long term health problems. Upon further discussion, and, with my own research, it became clear that dog allergies have largely been blamed on food allergies. However, environmental allergies are much much more common as I expected. Our vet thus approved of us using this type of food. This was definitely the best value for sure. I bought different proteins for variety. The kibble was different sizes between the lamb and the beef. However, my puppy goes nuts for this food. In fact, he loved it so much that I was using it for training. He is an 8 month old pibble mix who is 40 lbs. I definitely will continue to use this. His stools have been regular and he is developing great. He did end up with allergies but again, we confirmed they were environmental and with the immune shot his allergies resolved. We are very satisfied and encourage people not to fall for the trap of “grain free”.
